DonKEY
HANDMADE SANGRITA

A Brief History of Sangrita
Sangrita was not invented, it was born naturally – in the early 20th century, in the Jalisco region, which is considered the birthplace of tequila in Mexico.
Here, the salad ’pico de gallo’ (rooster’s beak) has long been very popular. After eating the salad, the juices left behind became a perfect chaser for tequila after lunch or dinner. Sour from lime and pomegranate, spicy from chili peppers, and slightly sweet from oranges, the juices were poured into small clay cups and later used to chase tequila. Over time, this became a national tradition. Today, serving of tequila without sangrita – would be missing half of the story.
How is Sangrita consumed?
The classic way - served in shot glass with a shot of tequila.
